Incident#21 – 13/04/18
Humber Rescue were paged at 13.56pm to reports of an unidentified object in the water. Crews were requested to launch and investigate the sighting at the west end of North Ferriby.
On arrival a large suspicious object was found floating in the water. Our Rescue Boat was asked to retain the object mid water until the Coastguard arrived along with HM Border Force.
The suspicious object ended up on the shore which was secured by the Coastguard who were in drysuits. Due to the size of the object it was deemed best if our boat towed it back to Hessle Foreshore for more investigation by The Border Force.
Crew stood down at 16.29pm
On this occasion the object turned out to be a very large block of polystyrene encased in concrete, possibly a float from a pontoon which had broken free from its mooring, but needed investigation regardless.
